You learn about it on a screen first. Always on a screen. The island is burning, or flooding, or simply disappearing from the feed — replaced by the next thing. You were there once. You have photos. They feel indecent now.

The play asks what we owe to catastrophe when we were not in it — only near it, or adjacent, or lucky. Developed in readings at Russian-language festivals. Full text available on request.
